
Justin Cottrell
Justin began his career in the shopping center industry in 1998 in Visual Merchandising and Marketing with Copaken White & Blitt’s Illinois Retail Portfolio. In his six years in Illinois, Justin held positions in all aspects of commercial property management and leasing and ultimately was promoted to Assistant Manager of Eastland Mall, a 765,000 sf, five anchor regional enclosed mall.
As Assistant Manager his primary responsibility was short term and long term local leasing, marketing and special events. Additionally he was responsible for negotiating short term leases with national level tenants for 5 other regional malls.
During his time in Illinois Justin was a licensed Realtor for five years concentrating on sales and marketing of residential developments and properties. During that time he earned his “Accredited Buyers Representative” Designation (ABR) and completed the GMAC Marketing Masters Program focused on promoting and marketing real estate.
In August 2005, Copaken White & Blitt relocated Justin to their corporate office in Kansas City where he was assigned to negotiate long term retail leases for their portfolio in centers such as Market Square, Oak Park Commons, Town Pavilion, Plaza Colonnade and Quivira 95 Shops and additionally his responsibilities expanded to include development projects, third party listings such as the Historic City Market, Historic Westport and Zona Rosa, as well as tenant representation. In addition to leasing Justin was directly responsible for preparing budgets, merchandising plans, tenant retention and marketing materials for the centers.
In August of 2010, Justin made the move to KC Commercial Realty Group as a principal of the company. His primary responsibilities include leasing and marketing retail space and expanding third party brokerage and management assignments in the Kansas City area. In addition, Justin represents Panda Express and Clearwire in the Kansas City Metro area and has represented other tenants such as Ditto and Burger King.
Justin is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and is the acting chairman of the ICSC Next Generation of Real Estate Professionals. He is a licensed real estate agent in both Missouri and Kansas.
