Rosemary Salerno

Vice President - General Manager

Rosemary Salerno oversees the City Market for KC Commercial Realty Group, Inc., in a management agreement with the City of Kansas City, Missouri.   In her role, she is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations and marketing for the eleven-acre, mixed-use property comprised of 125,000 square feet of commercial retail, office and residential space, the Market square, a park and six parking lots.

Salerno has over twenty-five years of shopping center/property management experience.  Most recently, Salerno was General Manager of Zona Rosa, a 1.1 million square foot mixed-use urban town center in Kansas City, Missouri, where she oversaw property operations and marketing.   While at Zona Rosa, Salerno received multiple awards from the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) for outstanding marketing efforts, including three prestigious ICSC MAXI Gold Awards.  Prior to Zona Rosa, Salerno worked at both Prime Outlets in Odessa, MO and Independence Center.

Salerno, a native Kansas Citian, serves on numerous non-profit and community boards including Northland Regional Chamber of Commerce (Board Chair), VisitKC, Northland Community Foundation, Salvation Army Advisory Council, Northland Healthcare Access and Miles of Smiles, among others.   Salerno also showed her affinity for her hometown by reviving several beloved Kansas City traditions and making Zona Rosa a holiday destination.  Most notably, she was instrumental in the re-creation of the iconic crowns that hung over Main Street downtown during the holidays in the 1950s through the 1970s.    The emotional connection the crowns made with the community inspired her to reimagine the historic Kansas City Easter Parade.  Later, she developed a partnership with the Kansas City Museum to rebuild their historic igloo, as well as find a new ‘retail’ home for the Museum’s Fairy Princess, formerly the Kline’s Department Store Fairy Princess from the 1930s downtown Kansas City.

Salerno holds a BA from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and several professional designations from ICSC including Certified Retail Executive (CRX), Certified Shopping Center Manager (CSM) and Certified Marketing Director (CMD).   In 2009, Salerno was honored by KC Business Magazine as one of Kansas City’s most influential women.
